Bio


 The work of Somos Collective is inspired by Colombian, Brazilian and Cuban rhythms, as well as North American funk and jazz.

Influenced by a wide range of artists, from the Buena Vista Social Club, to John Scofiled, Juanes, and Alex Cuba, the group’s repertoire is formed of original songs that speak of cross-cultural experiences, everyday life and the many shades of love. Their compositions are simple and direct, yet sophisticated melodically, rhythmically and harmonically.

Somos Collective was born from the musical collaboration of brothers Miguel and William Benavides from Colombia and Cary Aileen Garcia from Cuba . Michael Rush from Canada joined the group later contributing to the full sound the band has today.
